Women’s Summer Book Groups
Ladies! It's time for summer reading with friends! As we saw in 1 Peter, God has made us His people and calls us to grow up into salvation. One way we can work towards that is by reading good books with our sisters in His SPBC household.
If you are interested in reading and discussing a book with a handful of other women, sign up here.
Book options are:
My Dear Hemlock by Tilly Dillehay - Modeled on C. S. Lewis’s Screwtape Letters, Dillehay seeks to help us see ways we as women are particularly prone to temptation and Satan’s lies. A clever read that is fun and exposing.
War of Words: Getting to the Heart of Your Communication Struggles by Paul Tripp - We speak on average 16,000 words a day, and the Bible is full of teaching and warnings about the power of those words and our sin struggles with them. In this book, Tripp exposes the heart-war behind our speech and how it shows up in our words. He shows us God's marvelous, redemptive purposes for our speech. And he provides encouraging, practical counsel on how to grow in godliness and godly speech. Really accessible, practical, and pastoral.
Deeper: Real Change for Real Sinners by Dane Ortlund - By the same author of Gentle and Lowly, this book is a meditative consideration of how we grow as Christians. Ortlund encourages us that true growth in Christ does not happen simply by behaving better, knowing more stuff, or experiencing bigger feelings. Instead, it comes by going deeper in Christ. That's what he explores here.
